Muslim marriage in Plano

The Muslim community in Plano organizes around its masjids rather than a single neighborhood. EPIC Masjid anchors the eastern side of the city near 14th Street, and the Islamic Association of Collin County sits along Independence Parkway on the west side, serving families from across Collin County. The W Spring Creek Pkwy corridor between those two anchors has become a natural gathering strip, with halal dining and Islamic education centers in the same stretch. The community extends north into Frisco and Allen and south into Richardson as the county has grown.

Collin County holds one of the most professionally established Muslim communities in Texas, with a large South Asian presence alongside Arab, African American, and convert Muslims. EPIC Masjid is the center of gravity: its weekend Islamic school, halaqas, youth programs, and the nationally recognized scholarship of resident scholar Yasir Qadhi draw families from across the metroplex. EPIC raised more than $800,000 in a single Ramadan fundraising night in 2021, a measure of how deep and generous this community is.

UT Dallas in nearby Richardson has an active Muslim Student Association that serves a large portion of Plano’s younger community, and Collin College draws students from across the county. The ISRA Foundation on Parker Road was built and led by American-born Muslims and runs Arabic, fiqh, and hadith classes alongside a women’s branch called Nafisah and youth leadership programs. These institutions together form the social fabric where many serious introductions begin.
