How ID Verification Works on Fazool

ID verification on Fazool requires every user to submit a government-issued ID during onboarding. The Fazool team manually reviews each submission before approving the profile. After verification, the ID image is permanently deleted from storage. A cryptographic hash of the ID number is retained to prevent banned users from creating new accounts.

This process exists because fake profiles and catfishing are the most common complaints about marriage apps. Automated selfie verification (the method most apps use) can be fooled with photos of photos. Manual ID verification with government documents is harder to fake and creates a meaningful barrier to bad actors.

What IDs Are Accepted?

Fazool accepts any government-issued photo ID, including:

  • Driver's license
  • Passport
  • School ID (government-issued)
  • State ID card
  • Any other official government document with a photo

The Verification Process Step by Step

  1. Upload: During onboarding, you photograph or upload your ID through the app.
  2. Review: A member of the Fazool team manually reviews the document, checking that it matches your profile information.
  3. Approval: Once approved, your profile is marked as verified and you can access the discovery feed.
  4. Deletion: The ID image is permanently deleted from Fazool's servers immediately after verification.
  5. Hashing: A SHA-256 hash of the ID number is stored. This hash cannot be reversed back into your ID number, but it can detect if the same ID is used to create another account.

What Happens to Your ID After Verification?

The ID image is permanently deleted. Fazool does not store, retain, or archive the image in any form. The only thing kept is a one-way cryptographic hash of the ID number. This hash serves one purpose: if a user is banned for violating community guidelines, they cannot create a new account using the same ID.

Why Not Use Selfie Verification?

Selfie verification asks users to take a photo of themselves and compares it to their profile pictures. This approach has two problems. First, it can be defeated by holding up a photo of someone else. Second, it only confirms that the person taking the selfie matches the profile pictures. It does not confirm that the person is who they claim to be.

Government ID verification confirms legal identity. It ensures that every person on Fazool is a real individual who can be held accountable for their behavior on the platform.

Can I Use Fazool Without Verifying My ID?

No. ID verification is mandatory for all users. You cannot browse profiles, send likes, or access the discovery feed until your ID has been verified and approved. This policy applies to every user without exception.
